Welcome to Gym Monster. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.
1. Information We Collect
- Account details you provide (name, email address)
- Workout and exercise data (workouts, exercises, sets, weights, and personal records)
- Monster and progress data (experience points, levels, species, and survival status)
- In-app activity events describing how you use the app (see section 5)
- In-app purchase records (which item was bought and its transaction identifier)
- Device and diagnostic information (app version, build number, and error reports)

3. Data Storage and Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. Your data is stored locally on your device and/or securely in our cloud infrastructure, which is hosted on Supabase. Access to stored data is restricted by database-level security rules so that you can only read and write your own records.

5. In-App Analytics
To understand how Gym Monster is actually used, the app records events when you take certain actions. These include opening the app, signing up, signing in, starting, completing, or cancelling a workout, creating a monster, gaining a level, losing a monster in survival mode, and each step of an in-app purchase.
Each event is stored with your account identifier, the time it happened, the app version, and a small number of relevant details — for example the length of a workout, how many exercises it contained, or which monster species you chose. We do not record the contents of your screen, your keystrokes, or your location.
These events are linked to your account. We do this so we can tell whether a change genuinely helped people stick with their training, which anonymous totals cannot show.
This information is stored in our own cloud infrastructure and is not shared with third-party analytics or advertising companies. The app contains no advertising software, collects no advertising identifier, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
How long we keep it: individual events are kept for up to 365 days and then deleted automatically. Before deletion they are summarised into daily totals and averages that contain no account identifiers, and those summaries are kept indefinitely so we can see long-term trends.
If you delete your account, your account identifier is removed from any events still held, leaving records that are no longer connected to you or to any other user.
In-app purchases: when you buy something, we store which item was purchased and its transaction identifier so the purchase can be unlocked and later restored. Payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never receive your card number, billing address, or any other payment details.
6. Website Analytics & Cookies
Our website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our site. This helps us improve the user experience and optimize our content. Google Analytics collects information such as:
- Pages you visit on our website
- Time spent on the site
- Browser and device information
- Approximate geographic location (country/region)
- How you arrived at our site (referral source)
Your IP address is anonymized before being sent to Google Analytics, protecting your privacy. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique visitors and sessions.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by:
- Installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
- Enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser settings
- Using browser extensions that block analytics scripts
